Thanks so much @0ddsidian for opening a discussion around queer joy!! It's such an important part of my gender identity journey, and glad to share my thoughts 🙂 Happy Pride Month, everyone 🏳️⚧️
What does “Queer Joy” mean to you?
Queer joy means that I feel happiness and fullfulment from my gender identity which is only relatively new as I socially transitioned in November 2023. Not quite 2 years, but real close! Let's not talk about how my life used to be and how I felt, but the difference is like chalk and cheese. I am so well accepted by most of my friends, my family is coming around, but they still have some work to do, and work has always been amazing and is such a lovely, welcoming, safe and respected environment. Life is amazing compared to pretransitioning 🤩
How do you express “Queer Joy”?
I express queer in how I interact with the world around me and how I present as my authentic self. I love the insidental converations I have with women when they comment on my skirt or something I'm wearing. And women strike up conversations with me now in public spaces which never used to happnen before I socially transitioned. I love fashion and have found my own still and like to get dressed up for work and going out. I also love my active wear and mostly dress in leggings on my days off which is fun.
Thanks again!!
