Re: Good Morning

Interesting, @Former-Member. I'm not familiar with the term 'centrepay'—perhaps that is centrelink paying your utilities before you get the remainder? I will look into it, but I am not hopeful in my circumstances as I pay my bills after receiving my benefit. It just sounds like too many hoops for me to jump through although I will look into it further. Many thanks for thinking of me. It shouldn't be so tricky as everyone on benefits is doing it tough and it seems that it will only get tougher. Everyone is complaining now.

Re: Good Morning

Its going to get worse @Historylover so it made sense for me to apply now. I saw what was happening in other countries around the world. I hardly use any gas or electricity anyway but it will make a difference in some way. Saw someone with a monthly $300 bill for heating their home last week on twitter!!!

Yes I pay via Centrepay. You go to mygov and get them to deduct fortnightly so you can pay all your bills via social security.  Its worked well for me. More people should do it.  But the costs of heating and cooling your home is going to escalate amongst other costs such as cost of living.  It may seem like too many hoops to jump through and I can understand your hesitation.  It also needs to be approved separately by the government which will take a while still.

But yeah its about to get worse...

Re: Good Morning

Switching off for the evening @TAB. Any idea when you get insulation put in?  There are rolling blackouts in some parts of the world so people have no power since this pandemic. I'd get the insulation put in as well as curtains that block heat. Exterior blinds are also a good idea. The best time to put in insulation is when its cooler

Bought me hot water bottle today!

Yeah cost of living ...

Will get more skivvies .... got thick explorer sock a few weeks ago ... stocking up ... layers layers ... but I really do not like modern fabrics for warmth ... they have too much synthetics in them ... and less warmth factor.

@Judi9877 @oceangirl how are you both?

Re: Good Morning

I hesitated to say that it is going to get worse, @Former-Member, but you've done it for me. People have been complaining about everything for such a long time, and they didn't know how good they had it. They just don't know how to live within their means or tighten their belts these days—and that's an understatement! They think the good times will just keep rolling. They never do and it's a lesson well worth learning. I think too many people are embarrassed to be seen to be frugal.

I only had my heating on a couple of times this season. Since I bought my new fleecy jackets, I have been snug enough without heating, but there's quite a bit to go yet.
