I don't have a hot water bottle, @Appleblossom. Spoiling yourself? My new jackets have served me well—the best things I ever bought. I haven't used heating since I bought them and only a couple of times before that. And I never catch colds or flu, although I've opted for flu jabs in the last couple of years. They were insisting on them where I was entering during the Covid outbreak, so it might become an unnecessary habit in the future...the 'just in case' factor.

Youre correct @Historylover its game over for this country. Historically theres been pandemics, then famine then wars in that order. It always goes in threes. Theres nothing wrong in being frugal. I belong to a facebook budgeting group and there people on there who have a better idea of how to live than others. I just wear my thermals, wool, puffer jackets and beanie. I have an electric throw from Target thats lasted me several years now. When I speak to energy consultants I use the same amount of power as they do or less and they see all kinds of people who are unable to meet their budgets. There are some exceptions though, there are people with asthma and respiratory diseases that get triggered by cold air so they have to maintain warm temperature in the house which is why reverse cycle aircon is the best bet because its cheaper to run than a heater when kept at around 18-20c

That's right, @Former-Member, and some people have life-saving, expensive medications to pay for each month. There are exceptions, of course.
I think it's game over for every country @Former-Member, a time of reckoning. You can live beyond your means for a while, but eventually the bills mount up and have to be paid. Only then do people learn to prioritize and ensure they are getting value for money.
