I've been of late trying to make a conscious effort to limit my alcohol consumption. How easy it is to fall into old habit old patterns.

Nonetheless I find myself drawn to the forum again hoping everyone is well and a friendly reminder that it is ok to be not ok.

I am not ok, I am again finding things tough but I know I will make it through this I have so many times before, I am hopeful of this and part of that comes from knowing I will do what needs to be done.

I reached out to friends and it supports linked in with my gp and got a new mental health care plan and called around for a psychologist to get me in sooner rather than later.

But in the immediate I have spoke to work and to my partner I have limited my exposure to stressful social situations which is tough around Christmas for me.

I am not ok
But I will be
And that's ok
I'll get back there again
I know what to do
And know that I have support
I've done this a long time now mang ups and downs
My recovery journey isn't a straight line
Neither has been my life
Ups and downs
Always ups and downs
Every up I try stay grounded and not fly fly away
Every down I try lift my self back up lift my chin up hold my head high

This is just another bump in the road as jarring as it is
It's a good reminder that even though the old days the wild days the lost days the unwell days are behind me
They are right behind me
It's a reminder to stay on guard
To stay vigilant
To flex the knowledge and wisdom I've learnt
To use the tools at my disposal

To keep your cutlass clean

Because you never know when you will need them
And I am needing them now and won't hesitate a moment longer to utilise every weapon in my arsenal to combat this
